Consumer Trends in Sports Betting: Transcript

Hi, I'm Julie Trujillo with Decision Analyst, a global insights and consulting firm. As part of our regular consumer tracking research, we recently asked almost 1,300 U.S. adults about sports betting.

We found that using online betting platforms is fairly common for sports, with 23% of American adults having done so at some point in time. This is even more common among men than women and is most prevalent among young adults.

We see that this digital behavior consistently declines with age. While some seem to just dabble in these activities, betting only once or twice a year, the average online Sports better has done so nearly 10 times over the past 12 months. It's interesting to note that men are more frequent betters than women, especially at the most active end of the spectrum, where we see that nearly one in five men have engaged in this type of activity more than 30 times in the past year.

You may be wondering about the most appealing sports. This research shows that professional football is by far the most common for online betting. Pro football is followed by professional basketball, college football, professional baseball, and college basketball.

We hope you found this quick look at online sports betting interesting. We regularly track consumer attitudes and behaviors on a wide variety of topics. Decision Analyst also provides custom research to meet our client’s needs. We'd be happy to help if you're looking for insights to address your most important business questions. Please, send us a message or give us a call if we can help.
